The existing structure requires a lot of restoration work to make the home safe for use and brought up to current standards. Designing the layout of the housing units into the shell of the existing duplex required carefully working around historic features which could not be altered.
A small addition was tucked into the rear of the structure to accomodate an accessible entrance.
Numerous town approvals were reuqired to move the project forward: from the Historic Commission and the Town Planning Board and the meetings were often contentious as neighbors fought to block the project.
Project is currently completed with construction drawings and is awaiting State funding approvals.
