The homeowners for this custom home wanted something that was completely different than anything else. They do not associate their identity with the traditional style found in many New England towns and wanted to have a modern home that resonates with their style.
Sited ontop of a rolling hill with views down to pond below the house is designed based upon the client's lifestyle.
An all glass breakfast nook that captures early morning sunlight and provides views down the pond provides the homeowner a quiet space to have their morning coffee. A large kitchen and pantry provides room for cooking large meals. The spacious living room feels just as comfortable with a few people or serval guests. The primary suite is removed from the main living spaces to give a buffer from the noise. A seperate guest house / office pavilion allows for working at home to be removed from where the family gathers and also provides for a courtyard between the spaces to be used for outdoor dining.
The form of the house allows for solar panels to be added to the entire main structure and is shaped in such a way to provide an abundance of natural light from clerestory windows above.
